Two individuals were taken into police custody this morning after arriving on a shipping vessel and being found in possession of illegal drugs. The Fiji Police Force, alongside the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), executed a search operation at Port Mua-i-Walu.
During the search, a 39-year-old farmer was discovered to have branches of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. In addition, a 26-year-old unemployed man was also found with dried leaves in his possession.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Fiji to combat drug trafficking and maintain community safety. The quick actions of the police and the specialized dog unit showcase their commitment to addressing illegal drug activities in the region.
As communities continue to grapple with substance abuse issues, this situation serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement and the public in safeguarding society.
