The Fijian Drua squad recently conducted a pre-season camp and team bonding experience in Kadavu, which aims to lay the groundwork for a successful 2025 season. Nacani Cawanibuka, the head of athletic performance for the Drua, described the four-day trip as a significant investment by the team’s management, fostering close relationships among squad members.

As part of their bonding activities, the team and staff participated in a community service project, painting the restrooms at Namalata Central School following a boat race event. Cawanibuka highlighted the uniqueness of this initiative, expressing his belief that such experiences contribute to building a strong foundation and culture within the team.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that the painting activity aimed to connect the players and provide something meaningful back to the school and the local community. By engaging in this hands-on project, the organization hopes to cultivate a sense of unity and create lasting memories among the players.

Cawanibuka remarked on the therapeutic aspect of the work, noting that it allows players to relax, converse, and foster bonds that will be critical as they prepare for their fourth season in Super Rugby Pacific. The Drua team and management are scheduled to return from their trip today.

This initiative underscores the value of community engagement and team cohesion, demonstrating that building a strong team culture can positively influence performance both on and off the field. The Drua’s efforts to invest in their players’ personal growth and community connections set an inspiring example for sports teams everywhere.

In summary, the Drua’s pre-season trip to Kadavu has not only focused on athletic preparation but has also created strong social ties, enhancing the foundational culture for future success while giving back to the community.
