Joseva Tamani is set to make his much-anticipated return to the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, as he has been included in the starting lineup for the upcoming opener against the Brumbies this Saturday in Suva.
After spending a season playing in France, Tamani will take on his preferred position as blindside flanker. The team also welcomes back Iosefo Masi, who overcame an injury scare during preseason, now playing at outside centre. Kemueli Valetini will join him in the midfield at number 12.
A notable highlight for the match will be the debut of Fiji 7s and Flying Fijians star Ponipate Loganimasi, who has been assigned jersey number 14. Vuate Karawalevu is also set to make his debut start on the blindside wing, with Isikeli Rabitu positioned at fullback. Additionally, Suva’s own Isoa Tuwai has been named on the bench, potentially setting the stage for his first appearance in the competition.
The team will be captained by inspirational hooker Tevita Ikanivere. Fans can look forward to an exciting match that kicks off at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 3:35 PM on Saturday.
This season marks a significant opportunity for the Drua as they aim to build on previous performances and showcase new talent on a bigger stage. The inclusion of seasoned players alongside emerging stars sets an optimistic tone for the team and its supporters.
