The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season ended in disappointment as they suffered a heavy 52-7 loss to the Queensland Reds at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. With their hopes of reaching the finals already dashed, the Drua were keen to end the season on a positive note but were ultimately outmatched.

Starting the match with their signature energy and flair, the Drua looked promising. However, their momentum was swiftly interrupted when star centre Iosefo Masi received a yellow card for a tip tackle in the 10th minute. This critical moment shifted the game in favor of the Reds, who took advantage of the extra man on the field.

Lachie Anderson opened the scoring for the Reds, quickly followed by additional tries from Anderson, who bagged a hat-trick, and contributions from Josh Canham and others, leaving the Drua trailing 33-0 at halftime. Despite a spirited start to the second half leading to a try from prop Haeriti Hetet, the Drua struggled to contain the Reds, who continued to add to their score.

The evening ended with the Reds scoring several more tries, solidifying their momentum as they head into the finals, while the Drua faced another harsh reminder of the inconsistencies that plagued them throughout the season.

Reflecting on their season, the Drua experienced a rollercoaster year, marked by a struggle to convert promising performances into victories. Positive areas emerged, particularly with young talents stepping up, but they will need to address discipline and execution to improve next season.

As they look towards the future, the Drua can draw hope from their performances, knowing they have the support of their passionate fanbase and the potential to build on their experiences in the upcoming season. Despite the loss, their commitment and resilience leave fans optimistic for the future of Fijian rugby.
