The Fijian Drua squad is currently engaging in a pre-season camp on Kadavu, which aims to build a strong foundation for the upcoming 2025 rugby season. According to Nacani Cawanibuka, the head of athletic performance for the Drua, this four-day experience represents one of the best investments made by the team’s management for fostering unity among the players.

As part of their bonding activities, the team and staff participated in community service by painting the bathrooms at Namalata Central School. This effort followed a boat race that was held earlier in the week. Cawanibuka expressed that this unique approach to team building is vital as they gear up for their fourth season in the Super Rugby Pacific league. He emphasized the importance of creating a strong team identity and building memories together.

Cawanibuka believes that the activities serve to bring the squad closer and help develop a collaborative spirit, saying, “We are sowing the seeds to bring us together as one.” The painting exercise not only allows players to connect with each other but also provides a way to give back to the local community, making a positive impact on the school they worked with.

This pre-season camp represents more than just training; it is a holistic approach to building a resilient and cohesive team spirit for Drua as they prepare for their future challenges. The team will return from Kadavu today, enriched by the experiences shared during this bonding trip.

In summary, the Fijian Drua’s pre-season camp signifies an innovative approach towards team unity and community involvement, setting a hopeful tone for the 2025 season. By prioritizing connections and community service, they demonstrate a commitment to strengthened teamwork and a shared mission forward.
