Experienced Fijian Drua tighthead prop Mesake Doge has been appointed as captain for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Queensland Reds, taking place at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium on Saturday. The 32-year-old will lead the side, replacing Mesulame Dolokoto, who has been rested for this match. This marks the fourth captaincy change for the Drua this season.

Head coach Glen Jackson has made significant adjustments to the backline, awarding Kemu Valetini his first start at fly-half, while Inia Tabuavou and Vuate Karawalevu will form a new center partnership. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula is set to play at full-back, with wings Taniela Rakuro and Selestino Ravutaumada completing the backline configuration. Jackson opted for a split of six forwards and two backs on the bench to bolster the squad.

The Reds, arriving in Fiji the previous night, will feature former Fiji Under-20 players, including flanker Seru Uru, who expressed optimism about the matchup, acknowledging the challenge of playing against a strong Drua side at home. Uru stated, “The Drua is always strong at home, but I’m looking forward to the match and I think the boys are going to be up for the challenge.”

Additionally, the Reds are riding a wave of confidence after their head coach Les Kiss was recently appointed as the new Wallabies coach. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:05 PM, with both teams eager to showcase their skills and secure a victory.

This game represents a crucial opportunity for the Drua as they look to leverage their home advantage and build momentum for the remainder of the season. Fans are encouraged to rally behind the team, as the blend of seasoned players and fresh talent could lead to an inspiring performance on the field. With the excitement surrounding the match, there’s a hopeful sentiment that this clash could mark a turning point in the Drua’s season.
