Drua’s Muntz Makes Comeback: Can They Finally Secure an Away Victory?

The Fijian Drua are set to welcome back flyhalf Caleb Muntz for their pivotal Round 6 encounter against the Western Force this Sunday in Perth. Muntz returns after missing two matches, and he will be joined by Taniela Rakuro, who earns his first start of the season on the wing. Head Coach Glen Jackson has made further changes to the lineup, giving first starts to props Meli Tuni and Livai Natave as the team seeks its first away victory in two seasons.

Muntz is expected to take charge of directing play at flyhalf, while Simione Kuruvoli partners him at halfback. Rakuro replaces another player on the left wing, while Ponipate Loganimasi shifts to the right. The midfield will feature Tuidraki Samusamuvodre and Iosefo Masi, with Ilaisa Droasese returning to the fullback position.

In the front row, Natave will start at loosehead prop, Tuni at tighthead, and the captain, Tevita Ikanivere, will remain at hooker. The second row consists of Mesake Vocevoce and Isoa Nasilasila, while Etonia Waqa and Elia Canakaivata will serve as flankers, completing the loose forward trio with Meli Derenalagi at number 8.

For bench impact, Mesulame Dolokoto will cover the hooker position, supported by Haereiti Hetet and Mesake Doge in the prop roles, with Vilive Miramira providing lock cover. Kitione Salawa will back up the loose forwards, while Peni Matawalu, Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, and Vuate Karawalevu will complete the matchday squad.

The match against the Western Force kicks off at 6:05 PM local time, will be broadcast live on FBC Sports. Fans are hopeful that the team’s changes, especially with Muntz’s return, will provide a much-needed lift and finally secure an elusive away win, contributing to the Drua’s ambitions for the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season. The team’s determination to break their unfavorable streak highlights their resilience and adaptability, fostering optimism among players and supporters alike for a positive outcome.
