The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team is buzzing with anticipation as the kickoff for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season is just four days away. The Drua will begin their season at home, welcoming the Brumbies for a historic match at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this Saturday.

Training has ramped up at the team’s base in Nadi, with players competing fiercely for positions in head coach Glen Jackson’s starting lineup. Hooker Mesulame Dolokoto expressed the team’s excitement, saying, “It’s been good; it’s been a long past three months of pre-season, and it’s finally game week. The boys are excited and can’t wait to get there.”

Starting the season with a victory is a top priority for the Drua, especially given its significance to them and their supporters. Dolokoto emphasized the emotional aspect of starting at home: “It’s special, the first game of the season in Suva, with family and friends around. It’s also notable since it’s the Brumbies’ first time playing here in Fiji.”

The Drua are counting on their fans to act as the “16th man” during this important match. Dolokoto called on supporters to come out in large numbers and rally behind the team, stating that the energy from the crowd would be crucial for motivation during the game.

The match kicks off at 3:35 PM on Saturday, a date that promises to be memorable for both players and fans alike.

As the Drua gear up for this exciting new season, the fervor and hope surrounding the team reflect the growing enthusiasm for rugby in Fiji. The combination of international competition and local support can pave the way for a successful season ahead.
