The Hurricanes faced a challenging second half in their round 3 matchup of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season against the Swire Shipping Drua in Lautoka. Despite entering the final period with momentum, the visitors struggled to maintain control under difficult conditions and strong defensive pressure from the Drua.

Captain Jordie Barrett highlighted possession as their primary obstacle during the match. He noted, “I think the toughest thing was, for obvious reasons, holding the ball.” While the Hurricanes spent significant time in attacking territory, they found it difficult to convert those moments into scoring opportunities. Barrett remarked, “We actually played a lot of the second half in the right end of the park and it was extremely hard to hold the ball, but the Drua were very disciplined on defense and didn’t allow us too many entries into the corner.”

Barrett also commended the Drua’s prowess at home, acknowledging the challenges they pose when playing at Churchill Park. “They played well today. You can see why they’re so tough to beat in Lautoka. So, good side,” he stated.

Looking ahead, the Drua will take a bye in the next round before returning to action to host the Brumbies in Ba on the 14th of this month, presenting an opportunity to build on their current form. As the season progresses, both teams will seek to enhance their performances and capitalize on upcoming challenges.
