Drua’s Game Day Strategy: Can Home Support Turn the Tide?

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s head coach Glen Jackson has announced an exciting lineup ahead of their upcoming match against the Chiefs at Churchill Park in Lautoka this weekend, aiming for their first victory of the Super Rugby Pacific season. The match is set to kick off at 3:35 PM, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they face a formidable opponent.

Jackson has made several strategic changes to the starting fifteen, with Haereiti Hetet and Mesulame Dolokoto at prop, while Zuriel Togiatama will start as hooker. The lock positions feature Mesake Vocevoce and Isoa Nasilasila, with Etonia Waqa and Kitione Salawa as flankers, and Meli Derenalagi positioned at number eight. In the backs, Co-captain Frank Lomani will play halfback, alongside flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, while the wings will include Ponipate Loganimasi and Selestiono Ravutaumada, who is set to make his first appearance this season. Inia Tabuavou and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre will occupy the center positions, and Vuate Karawalevu will take on the fullback role.

The bench also looks promising, featuring Tevita Ikanivere, Emosi Tuqiri, Elia Canakaivata, and Peni Ravai supporting the forwards. For the backs, the replacements include Taniela Rokuro, Motikiai Murray, Simione Kuruvoli, and Isikeli Rabitu.

Reflecting on recent performances, Jackson emphasized the significance of home support in overcoming their recent struggles, where the team faced narrow losses to the Brumbies, Hurricanes, and Waratahs. Acknowledging missed opportunities, he expressed optimism about harnessing the energy from local fans to uplift the team’s performance and morale.

This match not only serves as a crucial point-getting opportunity but also aims to build the team’s confidence moving forward. With a blend of experienced players and young talents, the Drua have a renewed sense of hope as they seek to turn the tide in their season, looking forward to celebrating a hard-fought victory at home.
