The Fijian Drua rugby team has completed its final tournament of the season and is now gearing up for a pre-season camp and year-end event in Kadavu, as announced by Head Coach Glen Jackson. The team is set to depart on Monday for Vunisea, where they will spend five days engaged in both an intense training program and a community outreach initiative.
Coach Jackson expressed excitement about the upcoming trip, noting the significant ties many players have with Kadavu. “Next week we go to Kadavu, and we are extremely excited,” he stated. Collaborating with local communities is particularly meaningful, especially given the efforts made by community leader Mr. Naca Cawanibuka to enhance ties with the area.
The Drua will leave on Monday evening and return to Viti Levu on Friday. Additionally, the team will have a ceremonial presentation of the traditional i-tatau at the State House on Monday, further emphasizing their commitment to cultural heritage and community involvement.
This initiative not only indicates a dedicated approach towards team development but also highlights a positive blend of sport and community service, fostering stronger connections between the Drua and the people of Kadavu. Overall, the planned activities reflect the team’s commitment to growth, both on and off the field.
