The Fijian Drua is making significant strides in player development as CEO Mark Evans has announced that development players Isoa Tuwai and Kavaia Tagivetaua will be promoted to the main squad. Tuwai has previously played several matches for the Drua in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season and is part of the extended Flying Fijians squad. Tagivetaua, another promising player, is also under development contracts, and both players are now set to join the main team.

Evans indicated that Tuwai and Tagivetaua are among multiple development players whose contracts will be upgraded, with three additional rookies soon to be revealed. Furthermore, the Drua is expected to announce new signings from outside their current setup, which would bring the total new additions to five. This follows recent confirmations of sevens star Joji Nasova and Flying Fijians lock Temo Mayanavanua as part of their recruitment strategy.

In a restructuring effort, Evans mentioned that around ten players are expected to depart the Drua, highlighting a dynamic transition as the team prepares for future competitions. The influx of new talent will be essential for maintaining a competitive edge as the Drua aims to build on their success in previous seasons.

This approach speaks to the Drua’s commitment not only to integrating experienced players but also to fostering young talents who can contribute significantly to the team’s evolution. The anticipation surrounding the announcement of new signings and promotions indicates a hopeful outlook for the Drua as they gear up for the next season, aiming for another strong performance in the Shop N Save Super Rugby competition.
