Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Tevita Ikanivere is determined to end the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season on a high note as the team prepares to face the Western Force in their final home game at Churchill Park. Ikanivere expressed the team’s commitment to deliver a performance that would make their families and fans proud following a challenging season.

“We’ve prepared really well. Our focus is to finish the season strong — for our families and for the fans who have backed us all year,” Ikanivere shared. Despite facing criticism on social media about their performances, he noted that the atmosphere within the team remains positive. “We can’t control what people say online… this is our job, and we try to do it well. Hopefully, we can still put smiles on people’s faces.”

Today’s match holds significant emotional weight as it marks the last home game for several Drua players, including Ikanivere, who are set to depart the franchise at season’s end. “This game will be special, especially for the boys who are moving on. It’s their chance to finish well in front of our home crowd,” he emphasized.

The captain acknowledges the challenge posed by the Western Force, acknowledging that they will also be fighting for their own place in the competition: “It’s going to be a tough match… it means a lot for us too, emotionally and professionally.”

Ikanivere is nearing the end of his current contract and stated that while he is focused on this match, nothing regarding his future has been finalized. “I’m close to the end of my contract, but nothing is concrete yet about leaving… right now, my focus is on the job in front of me.”

This season’s challenges provide the Drua with an opportunity for growth, and the departure of key players could open doors for new talent to emerge. The potential for revitalization within the team, combined with strong fan support, fosters a hopeful outlook for the Drua’s future in Super Rugby.

With the match today, there is a strong sense of anticipation that the Drua can rally together for a powerful finale, potentially igniting a renewed passion among supporters and inspiring future success for the club.
