The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is actively seeking young talent to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season. Head coach Glen Jackson emphasized that performance in this year’s Skipper Cup competition, kicking off on August 2, will be crucial for aspiring players hoping to join the Drua.

Jackson stated that the team has established specific criteria for player selection, expressing a commitment to building a diverse pool of talent. “Absolutely, every competition that’s got Fijian qualified players, we’ll look at,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of talent identification from various sources, including local competitions and international tournaments.

The Drua’s past recruitment strategy has seen successful players emerging from local leagues, such as Kalaveti Ravouvou and Vinaya Habosi, among many others who contributed during their first season in Super Rugby. Jackson noted the significance of continuing to develop local talent as some existing players have moved on, and new signings are already underway.

In addition to local players, Jackson reaffirmed that overseas players and those from sevens tournaments are also on their radar as they strive to assemble a competitive squad for the future. “We want the right people playing for the Drua and the people that want to be here,” he stated.

This proactive approach not only reflects the Drua’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent but also promises exciting opportunities for young players eager to showcase their skills. With their growing reputation in rugby, the Drua’s focus on player development positions them well for continued success, fostering both community spirit and national pride in Fijian rugby.
