Drua Women’s Spirit Shines Despite Semifinal Setback

The Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women deeply appreciate the support of their fans, who bring vibrancy to their Super W matches. The team recently faced a dramatic semifinal against the Queensland Reds, narrowly losing 54-40, marking the first time in four years they will not advance to the finals.

Captain Karalaini Naisewa expressed gratitude to their loyal supporters, stating, “Thank you for always being by our side. Even though we could not get the win, we thank you for being constants.” The team showed resilience despite falling behind significantly at half-time, with a score of 42-5. They mounted a spirited second-half comeback, scoring five tries, which showcased their determination and fighting spirit.

As they look ahead to next season, Naisewa is optimistic about improving their performance. “Come next year, we will try and do our best and give you the result that you wanted,” she promised. Additionally, fans have something exciting to anticipate as Fiji prepares to host a historic test match where the Fijiana 15s will play the Wallaroos on April 3.

The upcoming Super W final will see the Queensland Reds face off against the Waratahs Women, demonstrating the fierce competition in women’s rugby. The Drua’s journey emphasizes the ongoing growth and popularity of women’s rugby in Fiji, encouraging future generations of athletes and fostering a strong community spirit around the sport.

This season reflected both the challenges and achievements of the Fijiana Drua Women, and their spirit continues to inspire belief in a brighter future in women’s rugby.
