The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition has announced an exciting lineup, featuring the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women hosting two key matches. Aiming for a top two finish during the regular season, the Drua Women could potentially host a semi-final in Fiji.

An anticipated change for 2025 is the introduction of the inaugural Super Rugby Champions final, where the champions of Super Rugby W will face off against the victors of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.

The Drua will first take on the Reds in Lautoka on March 8, which coincidentally is International Women’s Day. This match is part of a double header at Churchill Park, starting at 1:05 PM, followed by the Drua Men competing against the Chiefs at 3:30 PM. A week later, on March 15, they will face the formidable Brumbies Women in a standalone match scheduled for 3:30 PM, ensuring thrilling Saturday afternoon entertainment in Lautoka.

The season opener for the Fijian Drua Women will be against the Waratahs at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney on February 28, marking an exciting beginning to their campaign. They will then return home for the matches against the Reds and Brumbies before concluding their regular season against the Western Force in Perth on March 23.

The Super Rugby W semi-finals are set for the weekend of April 5, with the top two ranked teams hosting, leading up to the Grand Final on April 12. The crossover final between the champions of Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Aupiki will take place on April 17.

Mark Evans, the chief executive officer of Fijian Drua, expressed their ambition to reclaim the championship title after being winners in 2022 and 2023 and finishing as runners-up in 2024. He acknowledged the challenges ahead as the team undergoes a rebuilding phase with a new interim head coach focused on developing a deeper talent pool.

Significant investments in facilities have been made during the off-season, ensuring the Drua Women are well-prepared as they return to pre-season in early December. Evans highlighted the importance of hosting matches in Fiji for local fans, emphasizing the excitement of playing on International Women’s Day and promising a special experience for supporters.

This upcoming season represents not only a chance for the Fijian Drua Women to showcase their talent but also serves as a tremendous opportunity for fans to rally behind their team, celebrating both women’s sports and the sporting community in their region.

In summary, the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition is set to be a groundbreaking season, enriched by significant home matches for the Drua Women, the celebration of women’s achievements in sports, and a commitment to fostering local talent.
