The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition has announced its fixtures, featuring the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women set to host two exciting matches. Aiming for a top spot in the regular season, the Drua Women could secure a semifinal game at home in Fiji. This season introduces its first-ever Super Rugby Champions final that will see the winning team from Super Rugby W face off against the champion from New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.
The Drua will kick off their home games in Lautoka on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, where they will face the Reds. This match is part of a double-header event at Churchill Park, with the Drua Men playing against the Chiefs later that day. Following that, on March 15, the Drua Women will compete against a formidable Brumbies Women’s team in a standalone match also at Churchill Park.
The Drua begin their season against the Waratahs in Sydney on February 28, before returning to Fiji for their crucial home fixtures. Their final regular season game will take place away against the Western Force in Perth on March 23. The semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of April 5, while the Grand Final is set for April 12, with an additional crossover final taking place on April 17.
Mark Evans, the chief executive officer of the Fijian Drua, expressed the team’s ambition to reclaim the championship title they held in 2022 and 2023, while also acknowledging the challenges ahead. The organization is undergoing a rebuilding phase with a new interim head coach focusing on expanding the talent pool and depth of the team. Significant investments in facilities during the off-season aim to ensure optimal preparation for the upcoming season.
Evans highlighted the importance of hosting two matches in Fiji for local fans, stating their enthusiasm for these events, particularly the match on International Women’s Day, which will feature special celebrations for all attendees.
This season represents a unique opportunity for the Fijian Drua Women, as they not only aim for success on the field but also contribute to the growing recognition of women’s sports in Fiji.
In summary, the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition is poised to be a landmark season for the Fijian Drua Women, combining competitive ambition with community engagement on significant dates that promote women’s achievements in sports.
