The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition unveiled exciting plans, including two home matches for the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women. The Drua Women are looking to secure a top-two finish in the regular season, which would allow them to host a potential semi-final match in Fiji. Notably, this season will see the introduction of a Super Rugby Champions final, where the winner of Super Rugby W will face off against the champion of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.
The Drua’s season kicks off on February 28 against the Waratahs in Sydney. They will return to Lautoka, where they are set to host the Reds on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. This match will feature a double header at Churchill Park, starting at 1.05 PM, followed by the Drua Men’s team competing against the Chiefs at 3.30 PM. A week later, on March 15, the Drua Women will take on the formidable Brumbies Women as a standalone match, also at 3.30 PM.
As the regular season winds down, the Drua will play their last match against the Western Force in Perth on March 23. The semi-finals are scheduled for April 5, with the top two ranked teams hosting, while the Grand Final will take place on April 12. A crossover final between the Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Aupiki champions is set for April 17.
Mark Evans, the Fijian Drua CEO, emphasized the team’s ambitions, highlighting their previous victories in 2022 and 2023, and their runner-up finish in 2024. He noted that the team is currently in a rebuilding phase, focusing on deepening their player pool and enhancing facilities. Preparations are underway for the upcoming season as they look to provide the best resources for their players.
Evans expressed excitement about the matches being held in Fiji, reinforcing the community’s support for the Drua teams and emphasizing the special celebration planned for International Women’s Day.
This is not just a compelling season for the Drua Women but also a landmark moment in promoting women’s sports in Fiji, where fans will have the opportunity to rally behind their teams and inspire the next generation of athletes.
In summary, the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition promises thrilling matchups for the Fijian Drua Women, with high hopes for success as they embrace new challenges and opportunities in women’s rugby.
