Drua Women Gear Up for Exciting 2025 Season with Historic Matches

The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition has announced that the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women will host two matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This exciting development allows fans to cheer on their team during key fixtures, including a double header on March 8, which coincides with International Women’s Day. The Drua Women will first face the Reds at 1:05 PM, followed by the Drua Men competing against the Chiefs at 3:30 PM.

A week later, on March 15, the Drua Women will take on the formidable Brumbies Women in a standalone match, set to start at 3:30 PM. The Drua Women will kick off their season against the Waratahs in Sydney on February 28 before returning home for the matches against the Reds and Brumbies. Their final regular-season game will take place at HBF Park in Perth, where they will challenge the Western Force on March 23.

As part of the competition’s changes, the semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of April 5, with the top two ranked teams hosting. The Grand Final will follow on April 12, and for the first time, there will be a crossover final between the champions of Super Rugby Women and New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki on April 17.

Mark Evans, the chief executive officer of the Fijian Drua, reflected on the team’s past successes, noting victories in 2022 and 2023, and a runner-up finish in 2024. He expressed a strong desire to reclaim the championship title in 2025, acknowledging the challenges ahead while emphasizing the team’s commitment to building depth and quality in the women’s program. This includes having a new interim head coach and significant investments in facilities, aimed at providing the best preparation for the upcoming season.

Evans highlighted the importance of hosting matches in Fiji, bringing the excitement of rugby to local fans, particularly during International Women’s Day. The Drua organization is committed to making this day a memorable experience, celebrating women’s contributions in sports.
