Drua Women's Squad Ready to Soar in Crucial Clash!

Drua Women Gear Up for Critical Showdown Against Western Force

The Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua is poised for a significant showdown against the Western Force in round four of the Smartech Super Rugby Women. Head Coach Ifereimi Rawaqa has shown confidence in Kolora Lomani, who steps in as the flyhalf due to Salanieta Kinita’s ongoing Head Injury Assessment. This move highlights the squad’s depth and adaptability as they head into this challenging match.

The starting lineup features the return of centre Josivini Naihamu, who will work alongside Evivi Senikarivi, while last week’s standout performer, Salanieta Nabuli, returns to the team after securing the winning try. Captain Vika Matarugu will play in the tighthead position, with Keleni Marawa taking up the hooker role. The forward pack sees Merevesi Ofakimalino and Asinate Serevi, along with Nunia Daunimoala at blindside flanker and Salaseini Railumu on the openside, bolstering the team’s strength.

Lomani’s crucial role at flyhalf will allow for a tactically versatile backline, which includes Senikarivi at fullback and Merewairita Neivosa on the left wing, while Repeka Tove will man the right wing. Naihamu and Vice-Captain Vitalina Naikore form an experienced midfield partnership, enhancing their chances for strategic plays. Luisa Tisolo also joins the starting lineup, contributing further depth.

Rawaqa has assembled a formidable bench designed to make a significant impact during the game. Loraini Senivutu serves as backup hooker, while Anasimeci Korovata and Tiana Robanakadavu provide versatile prop options. The bench also features Alfreda Fisher for lock coverage and Bitila Tawake, known for her tackling prowess, reinforcing the loose forwards. Setaita Railumu is prepared to step in at halfback, Ema Adivitaloga is ready for the inside halves, and Alowesi Nakoci rounds out the squad as a backline utility.

This match is a crucial chance for the Drua to earn a victory that could enhance their position in the competition. The growing visibility of women’s rugby in the region is fostering excitement among fans and aims to inspire future generations of female athletes. As the season unfolds, the Drua Women’s commitment and strong performances present a promising outlook for success and community engagement, signifying a bright future for women’s rugby in Fiji.
