The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has unveiled a 12-player Development Squad for the upcoming 2026 season, emphasizing their commitment to fostering talent both locally and internationally. This initiative is part of the team’s broader strategy to enhance depth across their roster.

Among the squad, four players have been retained from last year’s program, while the remaining eight have earned their positions through exceptional performances in club, provincial, and age-grade competitions. Notably, several squad members have represented Fiji at the Under-20 level, while others have been recognized through the New Zealand rugby scene and various local sevens and provincial tournaments.

Development Coach Nemani Nadolo-Kuridrani expressed enthusiasm about the new group, highlighting that it comprises a mix of seasoned players and promising talents who are poised to advance their careers. The Development Player Programme is crucial in preparing athletes for the rigorous demands of Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, providing them the opportunity to train in a high-performance setting alongside the main roster.

The 2026 Development Squad consists of Bogi Kikau, Breyton Legge, Harold Rounds, JD Sivivatu Kanth, Jeneriro Wakeham, Joshua Uluibau, Joweli Walevu, Kalioni Ratunabuabua, Maleli Nauvasi, Moses Armstrong Ravula, Pita Manamanaivalu, and Sairusi Ravudi. The squad members will integrate with the senior team during the 2026 Sun Bell pre-season and will continue to contribute throughout the season as the Drua gears up for their fifth year in Super Rugby Pacific.

This proactive approach by the Fijian Drua not only ensures the team’s competitive edge but also strengthens the rugby foundation in Fiji by nurturing local talent. The development of young players reflects the growing hopeful atmosphere around Fijian rugby, emphasizing a bright future for both the athletes and the sport as a whole.
