The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has secured an enhanced broadcast partnership with the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) that will provide free-to-air coverage of Drua rugby for the next three seasons of the Shop N Save Supermarket Super Rugby Pacific. This agreement promises to allow fans across Fiji, from urban areas to the most isolated villages, to watch all Drua matches live on FBC Sports HD, which is accessible through set-top boxes without any charge to viewers.
The collaboration solidifies FBC’s role as the official broadcast production partner for the Drua, ensuring that high-quality, locally produced coverage reaches both local and international audiences. Jeff Miller, the Drua’s chief executive, expressed his commitment to fans, stating that this initiative completes their broadcasting strategy for the upcoming competitive cycle. He emphasized the importance of providing a free-to-air option, complementing existing streaming services on Vodafone Play and Sky Pacific, which cater to fans with set-top boxes.
In a further enhancement of accessibility, FBC has obtained radio broadcast rights for the next three seasons, making it possible for fans to stay updated with the games, whether they are at home, on the go, or even at work. Sitiveni Halofaki, FBC’s General Manager of Television, noted the shared dedication to rugby’s growth and the commitment to the Fijian community, highlighting the pride in delivering all Drua matches for free to every household.
Additionally, as a prelude to the upcoming season, FBC confirmed that the eagerly awaited “Battle of Fiji” trial match for the Sun Bell Trophy will be broadcast live and free this Friday, taking place at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 4 PM. This event marks an exciting lead-up to an inclusive season for all Drua supporters and showcases the dedication to making rugby accessible to everyone in Fiji.
