Iosefo Masi, a star centre for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, has confirmed he will be fit to return for the upcoming Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific 2025 season. In an interview with SUNsports in Nadi, Masi expressed his excitement, stating he is currently in his second week of training with the team.

The 26-year-old athlete sustained a knee injury during the Pacific Nations Cup, which sidelined him for the final against Japan in Osaka, as well as the Europe Tour in November. However, his return to training marks a positive step forward for both him and the team.

In addition to Masi’s return, backrower Joe Tamani is also back with the Drua after spending a year with Colomiers Rugby Club in the French ProD2 competition. Known as “Smokin’ Joe,” Tamani emphasized the hard work he has put into his pre-season training, noting that the past seven weeks have been rigorous yet rewarding. He shared his commitment to improving his fitness and readiness for the upcoming season.

Tamani was part of the Drua squad during the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season, which saw the team reach the quarterfinals. He also made his Test debut for the Flying Fijians during the Pacific Nations Cup against Samoa.

Looking ahead, Drua co-captain Frank Lomani is optimistic about the Flying Fijians’ prospects for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, following their historic win against Wales in Cardiff. Lomani noted that the current squad is in a strong position and is preparing to return to the Drua setup for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific competition, with their first game scheduled for February.

This news brings hope not only for Masi and Tamani’s individual careers but also for the Fijian rugby team as they work together towards future successes. It highlights the resilience of the players and the potential for the Drua to make a significant impact in the next season and beyond.

Overall, fans can look forward to an exciting 2025 season with a revitalized team.
