Rugby fans are in for a treat as the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team will compete in the 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s scheduled for January. The announcement was made jointly by the Fijian Drua and tournament organizers in Sigatoka.

The McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s is a well-attended event, known for attracting rugby legends and notable personalities in previous years. Celebrated names like Waisale Serevi, Jonah Lomu, Rasta Rasivhenge, George Gregan, Bryan Habana, and Dan Norton have all participated, with some being honored in Sigatoka’s “Rugby Town Walk of Fame.”

Glen Jackson, head coach of the Drua, shared his enthusiasm about the opportunity to showcase the team’s skills in the 7s format. He emphasized that this tournament provides a valuable chance for the players primarily versed in 15s rugby to face off against some of the best 7s competitors in the country.

Fans can look forward to watching their favorite Drua players along with members from the development team, all ready to demonstrate their talents. Jackson remarked, “We’ll be supporting this wonderful tournament that highlights top rugby talents who advance to greater achievements in both 7s and 15s rugby.”

Jay Whyte, chairman of the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s organizing committee, expressed his appreciation for the Drua’s participation. He acknowledged Mark Evans and coach Jackson for their contributions that made this collaboration possible. “The people of Fiji have immense love for their Drua team, as shown by the incredible 55 percent of the nation that tunes in to watch them play. This level of support is truly phenomenal.”

The McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s will take place from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, and fans eagerly anticipate seeing the Drua go up against other top teams from Fiji and beyond during the three-day event.
