The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has made a significant move in enhancing its squad for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific seasons by finalizing contract extensions for two pivotal players, hookers Mesulame Dolokoto and Zuriel Togiatama. Dolokoto, a foundational member of the team, will remain with the Drua for an additional two seasons, while Togiatama is secured for the 2026 season.

General Manager Rugby, Baden Stephenson, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the players’ commitment, highlighting their leadership and competitive spirit. Dolokoto, age 30, hails from Koroivonu in Cakaudrove, and has become a crucial part of the team since his debut in 2022, demonstrating his leadership skills through multiple captaincy roles and garnering 18 international caps for the Flying Fijians. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am extremely blessed and grateful to continue with this amazing organisation.”

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Togiatama has made an impressive impact since his debut against the Chiefs in 2022, accumulating 37 appearances and recently receiving the 2025 MOGUL Dausoko Award, an acknowledgment of his contributions to the team. He shared his excitement about another year with the Drua, stating, “I’m excited for another year with the brothers and to continue learning from Jacko and the coaching team.”

The return of both players is a substantial boost to the Drua’s front-row depth and overall squad consistency, positioning the team favorably as they prepare for the 2026 season. This also reflects the Drua’s broader strategy of nurturing talent while maintaining a competitive edge, as indicated by previous contract extensions made with other players, reinforcing the team’s commitment to stability and growth in their performances.

With strong leadership and continued dedication from key players like Dolokoto and Togiatama, fans can anticipate an exciting and promising season ahead for the Fijian Drua, eventually translating into significant achievements on the field. The commitment to skill development and team cohesion nurtures an optimistic outlook for both players and supporters as they aim for success in the upcoming matches.
