The inclusion of players from the Fijian Drua in the Flying Fijians squad is proving to be a significant advantage as they gear up to face Scotland in their opening test this Sunday. Coach Mick Byrne emphasized the positive impact of having a largely local Drua contingent in the team.

The Drua players showcased their capabilities during the Pacific Nations Cup, with many gaining invaluable experience that has prepared them for this upcoming match. Byrne reflected on their performance, stating, “If we look back to our Pacific Nations Cup, we had a couple of Drua players who played really well.”

For these young athletes, donning the Flying Fijians jersey is a fulfilling milestone they once dreamed of. “It has been a big year for those young Drua players who might not have envisioned wearing the Flying Fijian jersey this year. Each time they put it on, they have stepped up and made us proud,” Byrne noted.

The hard work and dedication displayed by the Drua players during training have not gone unnoticed. Coach Byrne remarked that the team is more prepared than ever for the upcoming test match.

The Flying Fijians will take on Scotland at 5:40 AM this Sunday at Murrayfield, with another match scheduled against Wales on November 11 at 1:40 AM at the Millennium Stadium in Wales.

This blending of local talent into the national team not only strengthens their chances of success but also adds a layer of excitement and hope for Fijian rugby fans. The commitment of these young players exemplifies the bright future of Fijian rugby on the international stage.
