Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s co-captain Frank Lomani will not participate for the rest of the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season following a shoulder injury sustained during a recent match against the Crusaders. This development was confirmed by head coach Glen Jackson, who mentioned that Lomani requires surgery for the dislocated shoulder.
Lomani will be joined on the sidelines by fellow player Meli Derenalagi, who will also miss the remainder of the season due to a separate injury. This leaves the Drua, currently in last place on the points table with one win and seven losses, facing significant challenges as they prepare for an important clash against the Waratahs this weekend.
“Our situation is tough, but we have to focus on the next game. The upcoming match against the Waratahs at Churchill Park in Lautoka is crucial as we aim to turn our season around,” said Jackson. He expressed optimism about the team’s remaining players stepping up despite the injury losses, adding that Kiti Salawa has returned to fitness and is available for selection, countering the absence caused by Derenalagi and Lomani.
The Drua’s upcoming game against the Waratahs starts at 2:05 PM on Saturday, and fans can watch the match live on FBC Sports. This match represents a vital opportunity for the team to improve their standings and potentially secure a playoff spot in the future.
The resilience shown by the Drua in the face of adversity echoes their past as they continue to adapt and find strength amid difficult circumstances. With strong community support, fans remain hopeful that the team can harness this spirit to achieve a turn in their fortunes for the season ahead.
