Swire Shipping Fijian Drua fullback Ilaisa Droasese will be unavailable for their highly anticipated Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Crusaders in Suva this Saturday due to a broken wrist sustained during their match against the Force in Perth. Coach Glen Jackson confirmed the injury and noted that Droasese is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.

In addition to Droasese, the Drua may also miss flanker Kitione Salawa, who is currently dealing with bruising and a strain in his quadriceps. The team has faced significant injury challenges throughout the season, with former national sevens player Meli Derenalagi also out for the remainder of the campaign after undergoing knee surgery, estimated to require at least 12 weeks of recovery.

Despite these setbacks, Coach Jackson remains optimistic about the team’s depth. He has emphasized the strength and capability of the remaining players who will have the opportunity to step up in the absence of key figures. Earlier this season, the Drua have encountered similar injuries to players like Frank Lomani and Selestino Ravutaumada, showcasing their resilience and adaptability as they continue to strive for competitive performances.

As they prepare to take on the Crusaders at HFC Bank Stadium at 3:35 PM, fans are urged to rally behind the team as they tackle this challenging moment with hope and determination. The match provides a chance for the Drua to not only demonstrate their skill but also their commitment to overcoming adversity, inspiring both players and supporters alike.
