Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s halfback Frank Lomani has expressed great pride in being named co-captain of the team alongside longtime friend and former Northampton Saints lock Temo Mayanavanua. This honor is particularly meaningful for Lomani, as he and Mayanavanua have built a strong bond over the past decade while ascending through the ranks of Fijian rugby.
The duo first met while part of the Fiji Rugby Union’s Elite Player Pathway in 2015 and have supported each other on their respective journeys in the sport, despite pursuing their ambitions separately over the years. Lomani highlighted the significance of their partnership, stating, “Temo and I go a long way back. He’s someone who is really ambitious about what he does, and to have him here back in Fiji, playing together in the same team is really special.”
As they prepare to lead the Drua into the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, Lomani expressed confidence in their shared leadership and camaraderie, emphasizing that he wouldn’t want anyone else by his side. The Drua’s campaign will kick off next month with an opening match against Moana Pasifika, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
With seasoned players like Lomani and Mayanavanua at the helm, the Drua’s supporters can look forward to a season filled with dedication and hard work, as the team continues to strive for success in the Super Rugby Pacific arena.
