The Fijian Drua Blues triumphed in the Sun Bell Tuna 10s tournament, defeating their rivals, the Fijian Drua Green, with a score of 14-5 in a thrilling main cup final held at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
From the outset, the Drua Blues displayed their prowess, securing a 14-0 advantage by halftime. Their outstanding defense and effective execution of their game strategy kept the Drua Green struggling to gain momentum. Although the Drua Green managed to score a try in the second half, it fell short of compensating for the Blues’ strong performance. The final whistle marked the Drua Blues as the tournament champions with a decisive 14-5 victory.
On their way to the finals, the Drua Blues narrowly defeated Malolo 7-0 in a tense semi-final, while the Drua Green edged out Nadroga 12-7 in another competitive match.
Captain Vilive Miramira reflected on the team’s success, expressing pride in their performance. He highlighted that the team had focused on strengthening their defense and adhering to their game plan, particularly beneficial after returning from their Northern tour.
