The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, arrived in Fiji for a two-day State visit yesterday. She was welcomed by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka.
President Murmu landed at Nausori International Airport at 7:45 am and received a guard of honour from the Fiji Military Forces. At 9 am, she participated in a traditional welcome ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel, followed by a meeting with President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House.
The President is scheduled to address Parliament at 11 am and will meet with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at 12:30 pm, after which the Prime Minister will host a lunch in her honor.
In the afternoon, she will engage with the Indian diaspora at the GPH at 3 pm, before attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial Site at 4 pm. Following this, President Murmu will visit Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School to pay tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and will attend a reception at the State House in the evening.
She is set to depart from Nausori at 7:30 pm for Nadi and will visit the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple the following morning at 9 am before leaving the country.
