Drinking Party Turns Deadly: Suspect Faces Murder Charges

A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is scheduled to appear in Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow, facing a murder charge. The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve when the suspect and the victim, a 32-year-old manager, attended a drinking party with six others.

The confrontation escalated around 10:00 am on New Year’s Day, resulting in the suspect allegedly assaulting the victim until he was left unconscious on the floor. Following the altercation, the suspect transported the victim to CWM Hospital, where the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation has been informed by the accounts of the six witnesses present during the gathering, providing insights into the events leading up to the tragedy. The suspect is being charged under Section 312 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
