A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow, facing murder charges. The case stems from an incident on New Year’s Eve, when the suspect, accompanied by six others, engaged in a drinking party with the victim, a 32-year-old manager.
Reports indicate that around 10:00 AM on New Year’s Day, a dispute erupted, leading to the suspect assaulting the victim, who fell motionless to the ground. Following the altercation, the suspect transported the victim to CWM Hospital, where the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have pieced together the events through statements from the six eyewitnesses present during the gathering. The man has been charged with one count of murder, in accordance with Section 312 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
His court appearance tomorrow marks a crucial step in the legal proceedings that will determine the outcome of this serious charge.
