Navua Legends made an impressive start in their opening match of the RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament 2024, defeating Labasa Masters 2-1 at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa. The team dominated possession in the first half, securing a 1-0 lead. Labasa equalised in the second half, creating a tense game, but Navua scored a last-minute goal to clinch the victory.
President Salen Autar expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, praising their efforts in the match. “It was really a good match, the boys did their best in the first match,” said Autar. “We have a mixture of Navua reps in the team like Pene Erenio, Ashwin Chand, and Thomas Wise. We have a good team. We will now focus on our other matches, and our main objective is to reach the final and win and take the trophy back to Navua.”
Autar also extended his gratitude to major sponsor Twins Kava for their support, enabling the Navua Veterans to compete in the tournament.
