Veteran defender Ame Votoniu scored a crucial second-half equalizer as Nadi drew 1-1 with Labasa in the Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 15 match at Prince Charles Park today.

Labasa started strong, taking an early lead in the second minute with a goal from Solomon Islands player Tigi Molea.

Nadi had opportunities to score, with young players Apolosi Seru and Siotame Kubu missing key chances, while Labasa’s Christopher Wasasala, Melvin Mani, and Akeimi Ralulu each faced three saves from goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua.

Despite Labasa leading 1-0 at halftime, the game shifted in Nadi’s favor late in the match. Captain William Valentine initiated an offensive play, allowing Votoniu to leap above the defense and head the ball past Labasa’s goalkeeper Joji Vuakaca.

As a result of the draw, Extra Supermarket Labasa holds 29 points after 15 matches and remains in second place, while Nadi sits in fifth with 22 points.
