The Ba Provincial Dragons’ U17 and U19 rugby teams are gearing up for the Vodafone National Secondary Schools Rugby League quarterfinals, which will take place tomorrow at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. After performing exceptionally well in the West Secondary Schools finals last Saturday, both teams secured their spots in the national competition, with the U17 team triumphing over Ba Methodist High School with a score of 20-6 and the U19 team narrowly defeating Ra High School in a thrilling 22-19 contest.

As they prepare for formidable opponents, the U17 Dragons will face Naitasiri Secondary School, while the U19 squad is up against Nasinu Secondary School — two powerhouse teams from the Central Division. U17 head coach Krishant Reddy expressed confidence in his players. He acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting, “We respect Naitasiri and are aware that it won’t be easy. The boys have been training hard and are focused.”

Reddy also highlighted the importance of support from the school and administrators, which has allowed the team to prepare thoroughly. “We’re looking forward to giving it our best shot,” he remarked.

In a related context, the ongoing quarterfinals also feature an impressive matchup involving the Ba Methodist High School Under-19 team, which is set to compete against Sigatoka Valley Secondary School. They enter this contest with high morale, having recently defeated Nasau Secondary School decisively. This event showcases the emerging talent and competitive spirit within the region’s secondary school rugby landscape.

It’s inspiring to see such dedication and preparation from these young athletes, which highlights the positive impact of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and local pride. With both teams poised for exciting performances, rugby fans can look forward to a day filled with thrilling matches and community spirit.
