Dr. Singh’s Daring Return: Will He Lead Tavua to Victory?

Tavua coach Dr. Diva Singh is set to assume a dual role in the crucial Digicel Senior League final playoff against Bua on Saturday. Dr. Singh, who is a skilled midfielder, may step onto the field to replace Captain Malakai Tiwa, who received a red card during the first leg of the finals at Subrail Park in Labasa, where Bua won 1-0.

Although Dr. Singh has not participated in a match since taking on the coaching role, he is prepared for this new challenge. In a conversation with FijiLive, he emphasized the need for the team to work diligently to achieve a victory with a two-goal margin, despite having the advantage of playing at home.

“We need to concentrate on our gameplay while placing great importance on mental preparation. Playing at home is always beneficial, but the players must contribute significantly,” Dr. Singh remarked. He noted that the unexpected red card issued to Tiwa means that whoever takes his place will need to rise to the occasion. Despite training with the team throughout the season, Dr. Singh has yet to play.

“I might take the field for Tavua for the last time on Saturday if necessary. This game is crucial for us as it determines our status for next season. We are eager to reclaim our position in the Premier Division, and we understand the challenge ahead,” he stated.

Dr. Singh also called on Tavua fans to come out in large numbers to support the team, expressing confidence in their ability to succeed. Bua only requires a draw to secure the title and a Premier Division spot, while Tavua must win by at least two goals. A 1-0 victory for Tavua would lead to extra time, with a potential penalty shootout deciding the winner if the score remains unchanged.
