Dr. Raijeli Taga Steers Transition to Prime Minister’s Office

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been appointed as the Acting Permanent Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister. This announcement was made by Public Service Commission Chairperson Luke Rokovada.

Currently serving as the outgoing Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, Dr. Taga is in the process of handing over her responsibilities to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary for Lands, Paula Cirikiyasawa. Meanwhile, Parmesh Chand, the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, is temporarily fulfilling the role of Acting PS for the Prime Minister’s Office.

Rokovada stated that Dr. Taga is expected to officially take on her new acting position within two weeks. This follows the recent resignation of Pita Wise from the role, which was attributed to personal reasons.

The Prime Minister has previously acknowledged that he received a complaint against Wise, which he forwarded to the Ministry of Civil Service. He clarified that it is up to the complainant to decide whether to take the matter to the Police, as his role was simply to refer it to the Ministry.

When queried about why the PSC is not taking further action regarding Wise, Rokovada reiterated that it is the complainant’s responsibility to do so, emphasizing that it is a personal decision for the individual involved.
