Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde expressed his eagerness to return to his role in the office following a Tribunal report that cleared him of any misconduct. In light of the report released yesterday, Mr. Pryde conveyed his enthusiasm for reconnecting with his staff and emphasized his intention to collaborate closely with the newly appointed Police Commissioner, aiming to strengthen the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (ODPP) productive relationship with the police force.

The Tribunal’s unanimous findings indicated that the allegations against Mr. Pryde were not substantiated, leading them to recommend that he not be removed from his position. As a result, President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu communicated this decision to Mr. Pryde and informed him that the suspension, which had been imposed on April 13, 2023, was now lifted.

This development indicates a positive turn for Mr. Pryde and the ODPP, showcasing the importance of due process and the resilience of institutional relationships in the face of challenges. As he prepares to resume his duties, there is an opportunity for renewal and progress within the office, prioritizing justice and collaboration in the community.
