Don’t Let Your Keys Turn into Targets: Fiji Police Warn Vehicle Owners

The Fiji Police Force is urging vehicle owners to avoid leaving their cars unattended with the keys still in the ignition. This warning comes from Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, after two incidents were reported where suspects stole vehicles in this manner.

ACP Driu emphasized that opportunists exploit such situations and encouraged vehicle owners to remain vigilant and secure their cars at all times. He noted that criminals often show no consideration for others, including the victims’ families who may also be inside the vehicle.

Furthermore, ACP Driu stated that when a theft report is made, the police will establish checkpoints to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
