Don’t Let Your Keys Be the Key to Theft: Fiji Police Warning

The Fiji Police Force is advising vehicle owners to avoid leaving their cars unattended with the keys in the ignition. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, made this statement following two incidents where vehicles were stolen after thieves found the keys inside them.

ACP Driu highlighted that opportunistic criminals will exploit such situations, urging vehicle owners to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are properly secured at all times. He emphasized that these criminals show no consideration for anyone when committing their offenses, which extends to the families of victims who may be present in the vehicle.

Furthermore, ACP Driu stated that upon receiving a theft report, the police will set up check points to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
