Dominion Brothers Gear Up for Title Defense at Coral Coast 7s!

The Dominion Brothers are diligently preparing to defend their youth title at the upcoming 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s. Following a remarkable triumph last year, the team is now facing new challenges with a squad that lacks experience.

Many of the team’s key players are currently training with the High-Performance Unit under-20 and Fiji Sports Council U20 teams as they gear up for the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge in New Zealand. Consequently, the Dominion Brothers will be depending heavily on young players who have just graduated from high school, hailing from institutions such as Nasinu and Queen Victoria School. Only two members from last year’s championship team will be part of this year’s lineup, making their preparation even more crucial.

Head coach Rokoula Manuapa emphasized the importance of building confidence in these young athletes and helping them adjust to the fast-paced nature of sevens rugby. Last year’s victory was a landmark achievement for the team, having experienced years of competition in the Coral Coast 7s without clinching a title. Their breakthrough came after an exhilarating match against the national Fiji U20 team, a victory attributed to their strategic adaptability, rigorous discipline, and keen understanding of their opponents’ weaknesses.

The Coral Coast 7s will take place at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka from January 16-18, presenting an exciting opportunity for the Dominion Brothers to showcase their growth and determination.

This upcoming tournament reflects the spirit of resilience and new beginnings, as the Dominion Brothers aim to not only defend their title but also cultivate the potential of their rising stars. Such moments in sports can inspire young athletes across Fiji, demonstrating that with teamwork, dedication, and the right support, they can achieve remarkable feats.
