The Dominion Brothers are diligently preparing to defend their youth title at the upcoming 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s. Following a remarkable victory last year, the team now faces new challenges due to a primarily inexperienced lineup.

With key players currently participating in the High-Performance Unit’s under-20 program and the Fiji Sports Council U20 teams in preparation for the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge in New Zealand, the Dominion Brothers are turning to fresh talents from local high schools such as Nasinu and Queen Victoria School. This year’s squad features only two returning players from last year’s championship team, making their training and development critically important.

“We’re focusing on building the boys’ confidence and helping them adapt to the fast pace of sevens rugby,” remarked head coach Rokoula Manuapa. This emphasizes the team’s determination to nurture young talent and maintain their competitive edge.

Last year’s championship win marked a significant milestone for the Dominion Brothers after years of striving for success in the Coral Coast 7s. They achieved their goal by showcasing strong strategic planning, identifying weaknesses in opponents, and maintaining discipline throughout the tournament.

The Coral Coast 7s will be held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka from January 16-18. The Dominion Brothers are hopeful that their new roster can rise to the occasion and build on the legacy of their recent success.

In a time when challenges can seem overwhelming for teams with inexperienced players, the Dominion Brothers’ focus on development and resilience showcases a commendable approach to sport. Their journey reflects a positive narrative about growth and adaptation within the sports community.

Overall, this preparation period is not just about defending their title but also about cultivating the next generation of rugby talent, providing hope for the future of Fijian rugby.
