Popular fast food outlet Dad Mom and Children (DMC) recently made a generous donation of $5,000 to Lautoka Zhong Hua School as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. The announcement was made during the Chinese New Year celebrations held at Nausori Plaza.
Owner Weng Wei Jie emphasized the importance of businesses giving back to the communities that support them. “I understand that my money comes from the Fijian people, and because my business is fueled by them, it is my responsibility to give back,” he stated in an interview.
This donation builds upon DMC’s previous contribution to the school last year, highlighting their ongoing commitment to supporting local education. Mr. Weng expressed his desire to increase their charitable efforts with each passing year, stating, “Now we are trying to do more than what we gave last year because I understand the significance of doing good for my business’s community.”
Weng’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond Fiji, as he has consistently made large donations in Samoa, contributing over 100,000 tala (approximately $82,617.85 FJD) annually. He recognized that his business in Fiji grew rapidly due to the support of the local population, underscoring his commitment to reciprocate that goodwill through donations.
In a world where community support is vital for business success, the actions of DMC serve as a positive reminder of the importance of corporate responsibility. It reflects an ethos of gratitude and commitment to social betterment that many businesses can aspire to emulate.
