“Djokovic and Rybakina Battle Tough Opponents at Wimbledon”

The fourth round of Wimbledon is set to conclude at the All England Club on Monday.

Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic will face 15th seed Holger Rune, while fourth seed Alexander Zverev and ninth seed Alex de Minaur will be aiming to reach their first quarter-finals, playing against Taylor Fritz and Arthur Fils, respectively.

Defending champion from 2022, Elena Rybakina, is aiming for her third consecutive quarter-final appearance but will face an in-form Anna Kalinskaya.

Here are the latest results and highlights:

TOP MEN’S MATCH: RUNE V DJOKOVIC

A victory over Rune will see Djokovic reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the 15th time, second only to Roger Federer’s 17 appearances. The Serbian player, who has featured in the last five Wimbledon finals, will face a significant challenge from Rune, who has defeated him twice in their five encounters.

“I’m sure that on Monday we’ll see a lot of fireworks on the court,” Djokovic said on Saturday. “(Rune) is a spectacular player, no doubt. He loves the big stage, loves playing on grass. I think he’s a very, very tricky opponent.”

TOP WOMEN’S MATCH: RYBAKINA V KALINSKAYA

Fourth seed Rybakina from Kazakhstan needed less than an hour to overcome Caroline Wozniacki in the third round. However, Kalinskaya is having a career-best run at Wimbledon and hasn’t dropped a set, including a win over 15th seed Liudmila Samsonova.

Kalinskaya has defeated Rybakina twice in their first three meetings. Their last match in May 2023 saw Kalinskaya retiring due to injury, leaving their head-to-head record tied at 2-2.

“She’s a very good player, and she’s been playing this year pretty good. She’s a tough opponent,” Rybakina noted.

ZVEREV AND DE MINAUR SEEK TO BREAK NEW GROUND

Zverev, who has won 22 career titles but never on grass, is on a quest to achieve success on the surface. De Minaur, also seeking his first major win on grass, is motivated to change his reputation as a claycourt specialist.

“What’s driving me this Wimbledon is that I need to put up a decent performance here on the grass because I don’t want to be classified as a claycourt specialist,” De Minaur said ahead of his match with France’s Fils.

For Zverev, who has reached the semi-finals of every Grand Slam except Wimbledon, this tournament is about pursuing a long-held dream.

“I was close in Australia. Maybe one point away from being in the final. Was one set away from winning the French Open … I’m working towards achieving that dream of mine,” he said before facing U.S. 13th seed Fritz.
