With Diwali fast approaching, Mahesh Syndicate is expanding its selection of firecrackers, introducing a variety of options including cakes, fountains, and various budget-friendly sparklers to accommodate different consumers. Vinay Kumar, the general manager, noted that while the costs of fireworks have risen due to increased freight and compliance expenses, the company is committed to providing a range of affordable options for everyone.
Kumar also reminded consumers of the regulations surrounding fireworks use, particularly as the celebrations for Diwali near. Fireworks are typically only permitted to be discharged during specific hours, specifically from 5 PM to midnight on Diwali Day. Kumar urges the public to prioritize safety, advising that fireworks should only be used under adult supervision to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all involved.
“We are fortunate to have fireworks in Fiji, as many other countries do not. We appreciate that the government continues to allow their importation, despite certain limitations,” he remarked. The company will be operational from 9 AM to 3 PM on Diwali Day, catering to late shoppers looking to purchase their firework supplies.
As Fijians prepare for the Festival of Lights, it’s essential to remember that despite rising costs, the joy and communal spirit of Diwali remain at the forefront. The emphasis on safety will allow families to celebrate fully while adhering to legal guidelines designed to keep the festivities safe and enjoyable.
This Diwali season not only fosters a spirit of celebration but also brings the community together, reinforcing bonds and creating joyful memories amid the vibrant lights and sounds of fireworks.
