In a touching demonstration of community engagement, the Golden Age Home in Samabula, Suva, recently celebrated Diwali with its elderly residents, fostering joy and togetherness during the festival of lights. The festivities occurred on Friday, thoughtfully organized by the dedicated staff and caregivers of the home.

Enhancing the celebratory mood, the Fiji Corrections Services Band performed live music, spreading smiles and rhythm throughout the gathering. Additionally, vibrant cultural dances from performers representing the Indian High Commission’s Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre showcased traditional Diwali performances, filling the event with color and vitality.
Veremo Muria, Director of Social Protection, highlighted the significance of the celebration for the residents. “Our residents deserve to experience the joy and warmth of Diwali,” Mr. Muria stated.
