Vuate Karawalevu, a new addition to Fijian Drua, is eagerly embracing his journey with the nation’s premier rugby club. The 23-year-old athlete, hailing from Dravuwalu Village in Kadavu, has transitioned from the Waratahs, attributing his move to divine timing and hard work.
Karawalevu expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, noting, “I started with the Waratahs, and was just not eligible to be selected, but God always sees people that are working hard.” He consulted his parents before making the decision to return to play with the Drua, stating that it is not only exciting for him, but also for his family.
Settling into the team has been a smooth process for Karawalevu. He shared that he feels at home, having previously trained with many of his teammates during the Flying Fijians tour and having played alongside them in high school and with the Fiji Schoolboys.
When it comes to his playing position, Karawalevu is adaptable, stating, “I love playing fullback, but I don’t mind playing wing; I’ll take whatever comes.”
