“Divided We Stand? Fiji’s Political Future in Question”

The Minister of Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu, has issued a strong message to those within the People’s Alliance Party who are considering leaving or starting their own political group. He stated, “we don’t need you, neither does Fiji,” in light of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s concerns about factions forming within the party, including some members of the Cabinet aiming to establish a new party by 2026.

Rayalu expressed his unwavering support for Prime Minister Rabuka and the People’s Alliance Party, emphasizing that there is no tolerance for division, disloyalty, or personal agendas within the party. He urged anyone contemplating a departure to do so immediately, reiterating that the party exists due to the significant sacrifices made by Fijians, who voted for change in the 2022 General Election.

He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the Fijian people, stating that he will not allow rumors or self-serving motives to hinder their progress. Rayalu declared that respect should be mutual; if party members fail to honor the trust placed in them by the electorate, they should not expect it in return. He concluded by highlighting the party’s focus on building a better future for all Fijians, asserting they will move forward strongly, regardless of any dissenters.
