The Fijian Drua is making headlines once again with the launch of a new book that documents the club’s formation and journey. Authored by prominent rugby commentator Greg Clark and experienced sports journalist Norman Tasker, the book, titled “The Rise of the Drua – How A Rugby Dream Captivated A Nation,” provides an in-depth look into the club’s inspiring story spanning approximately 25 years.
“The Rise of the Drua” details how the team was established during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impressive rise within Super Rugby Pacific. The book addresses the challenges faced both on and off the field as the club, its players, and staff navigated relocation and ultimately returned to their home in Fiji.
Covering everything from the early beginnings to significant victories, this publication honors the players, coaches, staff, sponsors, and dedicated fans who have helped make the Drua a beloved team in a remarkably short period.
The narrative highlights the passion, resilience, and pride that have driven the Drua’s path, featuring exclusive interviews, revealing insights, previously unseen photographs, and behind-the-scenes stories that vividly portray the club’s journey.
Mark Evans, the CEO of Fijian Drua, stated, “This book is a written documentation of a journey through the highs and lows, the victories and challenges, that define the essence of the Drua. It celebrates our team’s unwavering Fijian spirit, the dedication of our players, and the steadfast support of our fans. It’s a must-read for anyone who loves rugby and wants to understand the heart of the Fijian Drua.”
The book will be available for purchase at various retailers starting October 11, with a paperback edition priced at $35 (VIP) and a hardback edition for $50 (VIP). Fans can also anticipate a series of book signings and special events with Drua players and staff.
